If we don't have a journal paper or book you need then we get it. This is free. See our Inter library loans guide.

If you think we should buy a book for the library, tell us via the Suggest a book form for your campus.

If you want us to subscribe to a new journal (which can be expensive) please ask your Liaison Librarian.

• Set up Middlesex University as your library in Scholar Settings for free access to the Full Text.
• Use Inter Library Loan service to get papers we don't have, free of charge.
• Use Library Search if you need a quick search of the resources we have.

The Sheppard Library

Librarians offer help in person 12:00-15:00 Monday to Friday at StudyHelp, 1st Floor, Sheppard Library during term-time (12:00-14:00 outside term time). At any time you can ask a question via Ask a Librarian and the ticket will be answered the next working day.

• Journals, databases, research repository, DVDs, music CDs, e-books and books.
• Special collections, e.g. Fashion items, Illustrated Books, Hornsey College of Art Archive.
• Subject Liaison librarians:  We teach students and staff to use library resources:  Email your librarian
• Reading lists and referencing.
• Copyright advice e.g. scanning documents for My Learning, using images and help with your rights.

Academic Skills

• The Academic Skills Team helps students develop the skills and strategies they need to succeed at university. They focus on how to study, from planning assignments to managing time, so that students can work more effectively and confidently.

• Training is provided for your students, via open workshops and one-to-one.

IT for students

• IT support to students, for example software use, printing, video/camera loan & editing, wireless.
• Laptops for loan to students without them.
• Download software for free.

IT support for staff

• Computer support for university staff, networks and systems is provided by Computing & Communication Systems Services (CCSS). 
  • Staff who need a password reset should call this number: Phone +44 (0)20 8411 6464. 
• My Learning (Moodle) and other learning technology is supported by the Centre for Academic Practice Enhancement.  They can also asisst with academic practice advice on assessment and feedback.
• Classroom audio visual support (data projectors and sound) is provided by Estates & Facilities Management Services (EFMS).

UniHelp

• The University one stop shop for all student enquiries, located in the Sheppard Library.
• Accessible via the internet, chat and phone: +44 (0)20 8411 6060.  Students who need a password reset should call this number.
• All issues are logged to ensure they are routed to the correct people to help.
• Go to UniHelp tile in MyMDX.

Wellbeing

• Student welfare and advice team, disability and dyslexia support and counselling.
• Go to the Support, Wellbeing and Services tile in MyMDX.

Employability (MDXworks)

• Go to the Careers and Jobs tile in MYMDX.
