An alphabetical list of names, places, and subjects, mentioned in the text of a printed work (eg. book) and indicating where in the work they are referred to. Indexes can usually be found at the back of books and help you find what you want.

Information skills
Information skills is similar to information literacy and involves knowing how to find, access, and use the information that you need.
Institutional Cookie
This is a piece of text stored on a user's computer by their web browser. A cookie can be used for authentication, storing site preferences, shopping cart contents etc. Academic staff: set our institutional cookie to your computer, you will be able to log on to our Athens authenticated resources more easily because Athens will recognise you as being from Middlesex University. You only need to save the cookie once to your computer.
Inter library loan
Inter Library Loans are a way of obtaining material that you may require such as books and journal articles, which are not available in any of the libraries at Middlesex University. Such material is requested from the British Library. There is a small admin fee for this service.

In order to borrow a book (or other material) from the Library, you need to have it issued (checked out) to your library account. You can do this at the library help desk (UniHelp) or by using one of our self-service machines.
IT Helpdesk
This is the IT Helpdesk Desk where staff provide in-depth support with your computing enquiries enquiries. Located in StudyHelp on the 1st floor of The Sheppard Library. Staff are available in term time between 11am-5pm.
IT user ID
Your IT User ID is a unique number printed on the back of your student card. You will need this number in order to log on to the University Computer Network and myUniHub.
