Classification system
This is a way of organising library books on the shelves by subject, in a numerical sequence. We use Dewey Decimal classification. Each book is given a number followed by 3 letters eg. 004.019 PRE, which reflects the subject of the book. Books on the same subject will have the same number and this is the shelf number that you will find on the library catalogue and on the spine of the book.
