Distance Learners: Distance Learning Library Support

Services provided

Based within the Sheppard Library at Hendon, we provide library materials, support and advice, to UK registered students and staff* who are unable to visit the campus on a regular basis or not at all.

We aim to provide distance learners with a similar or equivalent service to students who are based on campus. The service provides library materials, support and advice, and includes:

  • Electronic or postal delivery of photocopies of journal articles and chapters of books as allowed within British copyright law.
  • Ongoing support to students in their search for and use of materials.
  • Facilitating the use of other university libraries. In the UK and Ireland please use SCONUL Access.
  • General help and guidance on all Middlesex University systems.

Please note that if you live or work near a Middlesex University Hendon, you may use the services available to all students on campus.

Charges apply for some services.

Who can use the service

This service is available to UK registered* Middlesex University students who are:

  • On courses validated as distance learning by the university.
  • Work based learners.
  • MProf and DProf candidates.
  • Taught post-graduates in the writing up period between the end of teaching and their completion date.
  • PhD students who are writing up their thesis.
  • Students at partner institutions, with whom agreement has been reached.

If you do not see your circumstances described here but feel that they may entitle you to register, please contact us.

*Dubai, Mauritus and Malta registered students should contact their campus library.
