Laminating
The Library provides laminating facilities ie. it is possible to enclose single sheets of paper in a plastic film.
Law (case) citation
A law (case) citation consists of 4 elements: a date, a volume number, an abbreviation for the title of the publication in which the case is published and the page number. See Library Subject Guide (Law and legal research) for more information.
Learning Enhancement Team
Available to all Middlesex University students, the Learning Enhancement Team provides support for Academic Writing and Language, Dyslexia and Numeracy.
Legal abbreviations
Legal journals and Case Report Series may regularly be referred to by their abbreviated title, eg. WLR stands for the Weekly Law Reports.

Liaison Librarian
Each subject taught at the University has a named Librarian in Learning Resources who is responsible for supporting staff and students within that area. You can contact your Librarian for extra help and support. Librarians are also available at StudyHelpon the 1st floor of the library 12am-2pm .

Library
Libraries includes resources such as books and journals plus other services such as academic computing support, provision of equipment such as laptops and cameras, support for distance learners etc.
Library account
An online personal account which stores information about what books you have borrowed from the library. You can log into your library account to renew your books (See: Renewing), requests books, (See: Requesting) or check when your books are due back (See: Due Date) to the library.

All the services and staff based in The Sheppard Library including Librarians, Academic Writing and Language Lecturers, Progression and Support Advisors, UnHelp, Disability and Dyslexia Support Team, Counsellors, Student Learning Assistants and Student IT Support etc.
Library catalogue
The Library Catalogue is a searchable database which includes all the materials (books, journals, video/DVDs, dissertation, exhibition catalogues etc) held in the various Libraries across the University, including The Sheppard Library at Hendon, and the health library at Archway.
Library Subject Guides
An online library guide for each subject that is taught at the University. Each guide introduces useful subject resources, help and support, and information on the services and facilities available to you in your subject area.
Literature review
A summary and explanation of the current literature (books, journal articles, reports, etc.) in a subject area. Typically, this is done by carrying out a literature search of academic books and journal articles.
Literature search
A literature search is a systematic and comprehensive search for information. The information you search for will inform, underpin and /or shape your research.
Loan period
The length of time you can borrow an item for from the the library, e.g. overnight, 7 days, 14 days or 28 days.
