Dewey Decimal
This is a classification system used to organise library books on the shelves by subject, in a numerical sequence. Each book is given a number which reflects the subject of the book followed by 3 letters eg. 004.019 PRE. Books on the same subject will have the same number and this is the shelf number that you will find on the library catalogue and on the spine of the book.
